1. Good Tread – Even if you just plan on wearing them around the house, invest in a slipper that has quality trend. Some cheap slippers just offer a thin layer of rubber on the bottom, and that can actually make slipping more likely if you’re venturing outside on snow and ice to check the mail. The tread quality should be one of the first things you check for when buying slippers.
2. Correct Size – One issue we notice with slippers is that they tend to be a common holiday gift, which means your relative may not have gotten you the perfect size. Don’t just deal with a slipper that’s a half size too small or too big. We recommend trying the slipper on before buying, because sometimes the material used to insulate the shoe results in shoes sizes that are a little different from your normal pair of shoes. Try them on before buying, or at least request a gift receipt so you can exchange for a different size if you’re asking for them as a gift.
3. Quality – We’re not saying that you need to spend a lot of money on a pair of slippers, but be wary of those in the $10-$15 range. These aren’t likely to be made with quality materials and will offer little support for your feet. Do some online research to find out which slippers are durable and comfortable by checking out the user reviews. Besides, if you have to replace them every year, are you really getting your money’s worth? Invest in a quality pair of slippers.
