We are delighted to announce that the David Lewis Memorial “Our Hearts To Your Soles” event will take place on November 4th, 2023. The event will once again be hosted at the Catholic Charities Saint Paul Opportunity Center and Dorothy Day Residence, located at 422 Dorothy Day Place in St. Paul. This year’s event will be an afternoon affair, running from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. It is also our first-ever weekend event, which we hope leads to increased attendance and makes it easier for youth leaders to volunteer.
“Our Hearts To Your Soles 2023”
This marks the 16th year of Twin Cities’ participation in the “Our Hearts To Your Soles” event, and it’s the third year that we are honoring David Lewis, an orthotist, friend, and colleague. If you’re not familiar with David, he was an orthotist who dedicated his life to helping people get back on their feet. He was a well-known presence at “Our Hearts To Your Soles,” volunteering at the event with his wife and family for over a decade before his unexpected passing in 2019. Unfortunately, the events in 2020 and 2021 had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we were able to hold the event last year, and we’re thrilled to bring it back in 2023.
The David Lewis Memorial “Our Hearts To Your Soles” event provides foot exams, hundreds of pairs of Red Wing shoes and boots, socks, hygiene kits, and valuable legal advice to homeless and financially burdened individuals in our area. The event plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of many people in our community who may not otherwise have access to this type of care. We extend our gratitude to Red Wing Shoes for their shoe donations and to Catholic Charities for generously offering their venue and assisting in spreading the word about the event to other shelters throughout the city.
Volunteers Needed!
We are still in need of volunteers to support the event. We are seeking volunteers for either of the two shifts listed below:
Shift 1 – 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Shift 2 – 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
