As an orthopedic surgeon who regularly blogs and shares articles and tips on social sites like Facebook and Twitter, my goal with everything I do is to help advance medical knowledge and patient understanding of the health conditions they run into throughout the course of their lives.
We want to help each patient who is dealing with a health problem gain the knowledge and insights they need to best handle their situation. And while we hope that this may also bring some new patients into our office, the point of being active as an orthopedic surgeon on social media has always been to put the patient first.
Over the weekend, we were alerted that our efforts have earned us a distinguished honor among our peers, and we just wanted to share that award with our readers. A recent study in the World Journal of Orthopedics conducted research to determine who patients should be following if they are interested in learning more about certain health issues on social media. The study sought to determine the “Top 100 social media influencers in orthopedic surgery.” We were amazed to see that not only had Dr. Silverman made the list, but he was one of the more influential orthopedic surgeons on the web. According to the study, Dr. Lance Silverman is the 15th most influential doctor in orthopedic surgery.
